Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King, Jr., Sunday (usually the second Sunday of every January) is
observed here at First Baptist with a service celebrating the life and ministry of the
Rev. Dr. King, an American Baptist minister. Indeed, January 11, 1998, marked our 25th
annual tribute to this great man of God. This service included an invited speaker and
special music and was followed by a luncheon reception.

Maunday Thursday
A special communion service is held on Maunday Thursday, the Thursday before Easter.

Community Services
First Baptist participates in two special community services. The Easter
Sunrise Service is led by representatives of the laity of almost all the churches in
Bedford and is held at Fawn Lake every year, weather permitting. At Thanksgiving, the
Bedford churches once again come together usually the Sunday afternoon before the holiday
for a combined service led by the clergy.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
On December 24 at 7:00 pm First Baptist holds an evening candlelight service capping
off the Advent season. It includes carols and lots of joy at the coming of Christ's birth.
