Common Compassion A ministry and partnership reflecting the compassion of Christ |
|
In the year 2000, the First Baptist Church of Bedford was
introduced to the baptist ministries of Bulgaria through Teodor Oprenov, pastor of the
First Baptist Church of Sofia, Bulgaria. This connection grew into a ministry of prayer and spiritual support for the challenged ministries of the Bulgarian Baptist Union of Churches. After much prayer and an initial visit to Bulgaria of a team from Bedford and First Baptist Church of Cambridge, MA, we felt and began to follow God's calling to further our partnership with FBC Sofia. The team felt called to assist the Bulgarian church to build a Gospel Center in the heart of the capital city, Sofia. With a return trip in 2004 to learn more about the work ongoing in Bulgaria, the Samuel Stillman Association officially adopt the project and created the Common Compassion Commission to develop and strengthen the partnership. In 2005, the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts board of World Mission Support made Common Compassion the Signature Project for 2005 & 2006. Additionally, the American Baptist Women of Massachusetts choose the Gospel Center as their mission endeaver for 2005-2006. Plans are being developed for an "Mission Exploration" trip for the last week of September 2005. If you are interested in attending this trip contact the Common Compassion commission at mgwinn@commoncompassion.org for additional information.
