Bedford DayFirst Baptist Church of Bedford participates in the town's Bedford Day celebration
every September. In a recent Bedford Day, our parade float took first prize. In past years
we have had booths for displaying crafts, cake walks, and outreach materials.
Bedford Community Table/Food PantryWe regularly contribute non-perishable food goods to the Bedford Food Pantry, which are then distributed to those in need. First Baptist also cooks and serves dinner four times a year at the Town Center Cafeteria as part of the community table program.
Family Camp at OceanwoodSeveral families from First Baptist attend Family Camp at Oceanwood generally the first week of August. Oceanwood, which provides an enriching Christian camping experience, is located in Ocean Park, Maine, and is run by The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts (TABCOM).
Flea Market/Yard SaleOnce or twice a year, we hold a flea market or yard sale. In addition to raising funds, this activity provides another opportunity for fellowship.
Holiday Craft FairFirst Baptist holds a Holiday Craft Fair in November on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Items for sale include: decorations, stocking stuffers, specialty crafts, white elephant treasures, and baked goods. Lunch is served and all visitors may sign up for a free drawing.
Veteran Hospital Ministry Every third Sunday of the month volunteer from the First Baptist church goes to the Veteran Hospital at Bedford. We conduct various recreational activities for the ward of Building 4C, such as bingo, singspiration. During the Holidays like the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas the church organized full filled activities including gifts to bring smile to the veterans who needs some one to tell them that "we care for you."
Bridge House After Care Prison Ministry Every last Thursday of the month we cook meal for the 30 residents and staff of the Bridge House After Care Prison Ministry, in Framingham, MA. It is another very rewarding ministry for our church. We cook our meal with love and take the food and sit with them and have food together. We pray with them and encourage and support them as they prepare to go back to their own community.
